The World Championship 2018 starts tomorrow…

Yes, it might be the qualifiers, but for 128 players this is effectively the start of the World Championship. The fitters have been hard at work at the English Institute of Sport

What is at stake is of course a spot in the “main” draw, and the opportunity to play at the Crucible in less than two weeks. But for many, it’s also the last chance to secure their professional status for next season.

Read here Matt’s “Survival Blog” to understand where each player stands; Matt will update it as the tournament unfolds.

There are also some excellent comprehensive blogger’s “previews” available on the Internet. Those two stand out for me:

And I’m in Sheffield…

for the duration of the qualifiers, although I will not be taking pictures there.

I will take pictures at the Assetereum Seniors Masters though, with the gala dinner taking place tomorrow evening and the tournament being played at the Crucible, the next day, hence on April 12.

    • You can use those that are mine, provided that you give me credits. Be aware though that a lot of pictures on this blog – in particular those taken at Worldsnooker tournaments – are NOT mine. Most are pictures by my friend photographer Tai Chengzhe who sends me those pictures to be used on THIS blog. I can obviously not “transfer” the permission he gives me to use them to other persons. So be careful if you decide to use pictures and make sure they are actually mine.

      • Hi Monique. How can I know what is yours picture and Tai Chenzhe? I will only need to use 1-2 pictures of Ronnie in action, to introduce and write about the upcoming World Championship? Do you also have a mail address where I can contact Tai Chengzhe and ask if I can get permission to use 1 og 2 pictures on my blog? If yes, my mail is:

      • I try to always give Tai credits for his pictures. So you should be able to find out easily. However if you do use pictures taken at the World Championship in 2012 and 2013 (they are in the Pictures and videos gallery) those are mine definitely. You can use a couple.

      • Thank you very much for your help and kindness šŸ™‚ I hope Ronnie will be World Champion this year. He Is in incredible shape and hungry for a new title…
