On 17 September 2023, Ronnie defeated Luca Brecel by 11-9 to win the Shanghai Masters for the fifth time, and the fourth time consecutively.

This was the first edition of the Shanghai Masters, and the first World Professional Snooker tournament held in China after the covid pandemics.
