Shanghai Masters 2017 – round of 32

Today saw the completion of the last 64, with Ronnie beating Gary Wilson by 5-2 in the morning, as well as the last 32 played to a finish in the afternoon and evening.

It was a case of the top players going through mainly:

The only really unexpected name in there is Mei Xiwen who benefited from Ding withdrawal and then beat Jimmy Robertson. Good to see Jack Lisowski and Kurt Maflin in there as well.

And here is what tomorrow will bring, a very strong line-up indeed:

As you can see, two rounds will be played to completion tomorrow: the last 16 and the QF.

For Ronnie, who lost in the Final in Coventry late on Sunday night, it might be four matches in two days, with Mark Selby or Mark Williams in the QF if he gets past Hawkins.

Ronnie already played two matches today.

In the morning, he beat Gary Wilson in the last 64, setting a 144 target for the high break and you can read about it here.

Here is a little video, shared by Worldsnooker on twitter, featuring Ronnie trying to leave the venue after his first match:

In the evening Ronnie beat Joe Perry by 5-1 and added another century to his tally that now stands at 903, and 29 this season already. Having lost the first frame, he restricted Joe to just 19 points over the next five frames.
