The Eleven 30 Series …

This is the concept Ronnie was talking about yesterday. It’s organised by Snooker Legends and supported by Events that ROK.

This is the Press Release:

Ronnie O’Sullivan v Judd Trump
“The Eleven 30 series where the winner takes all”

Snooker Legends are proud to present two of the world’s biggest snooker stars in one of the biggest grudge matches ever!

Starring the world’s most popular player,
Ronnie O’Sullivan settling scores with the young pretender Judd Trump.

Ronnie is the current Masters Champion, a title he won for the 6th time in January. Add to that his 5 world titles, 5 UK titles, most ever competitive centuries and the fastest ever 147 break and you have a player who many regard as the greatest ever to hold a snooker cue.

Judd is the future; with his brand of “naughty snooker” he has proven he can stand toe to toe with the Rocket. At their last match up, the 2015 Grand Prix Final, it was Judd who triumphed 10-7. With major ranking events wins in China and Australia, as well as the 2012 UK Championship the ‘Ace in the Pack’ is ready and willing to settle this rivalry once and for all.

It’s
WINNER TAKES ALL in a best of 11 frame match over 6 fantastic nights.

Forget the silent gentlemanly atmousphere of the snooker halls; this is rock and roll all the way.

Limited VIP packages are available where you can meet both the players before the match in a private drinks reception.

Irish Legends Cup 2016 – Day 2

Ireland beat England by 18-10 in the Dafabet Irish Legends Cup 2016. Ronnie himself played quite well, only losing one match, to Mark Allen in a very high quality contest.

The Irish team was the best and a deserving winner, much to the delight of the lively, lovely and enthusiastic Irish crowd. And they  celebrated … as Irish do, with Guinness!

2016 Irish Legends Cup: Black ball shoot outs

A very enjoyable weekend for all present, playing and watching alike.  It’s now Ireland 1-1 England. See you next year for the decider then…

Irish Legends Cup 2016 – Day 1

The Dafabet Irish Legends Cup 2016 is underway in the brilliant venue that is Goffs, and, after day 1 the Irish Team leads by 8-4, deservedly. Ken, Mark, Fergal and Joe all played well in front of a supportive, but fair, enthusiastic crowd. It was 3-3 after the first session, but only Stuart managed to get a win for England in the evening.

From Ronnie’s point of view it wasn’t a great day: England lost both doubles where he was involved, and Fergal beat him in the evening. He made a 121, the highest break so far, in the only match he won in the afternoon. But he looked happy to reconnect with Tony Knowles who is playing in a Legends event for the first time.

It’s first to 18, so the match certainly isn’t over.

England beats Wales by 5-1 in Cardiff

WelshLegendsCup

It was another great night at the Legends yesterday in St David’s Hall in Cardiff.

England – Jimmy White and Ronnie – beat Wales – Matthew Stevens and Mark Williams – by 5-1.
The format was: double over one frame to start, four best of 3 singles with a black ball shoot out if the score gets to 1-1 and another double to conclude. Each win is worth one point for the winner’s team.

Here is ho Jason Francis reported about the night as it went and after

  • England needed a snooker, jimmy got it… Ronnie cleared. 1-0 Ronnie and jimmy
  • Mathew v Ronnie now
  • 105 Matthew Stevens!!!
  • Matthew beats Ronnie and its Wales 1 England 1
  • Jimmy v Mark now
  • Jimmy beats Mark 2-1 England
  • Jimmy beats Matthew 3-1 England Mark v Ronnie now
  • Mark Williams 119
  • Score last night didn’t reflect what a close contest it was. All singles went to respotted blacks and England nailed them Wales didn’t
  • Was great to see Matthew Stevens looking so well and @markwil147 doing what he was told by @jodenwill kids had fun too, lots of laughs
  • So it seems that the Welsh scored the centuries and the English potted the blacks when it mattered most 😉 although “Willo” complained on twitter that Jimmy fluked the last black in their singles match.

Ronnie was made very welcome in Cardiff: this is what he found in his hotel room …

Not everything went according to plan though

Michaela Tabb, who was in charge on the night asked Mark Williams to take a picture of herself with Joanne, Mark’s wife and here is the result … hahaha!

As usual lots of happy snooker fans on twitter after the event. Great to see!

The Irish are waiting for the English in two weeks time. Ken Doherty promised that they won’t have it that easy.

Ronnie will be playing in Morocco for the first time, next March

Ronnie and Jimmy White will be playing in the Sheffield Academy, Casablanca, Morocco, on April 9, 2016. This is a new date, the exhibition was initially scheduled on March 12. Following Ronnie’s win at the Welsh Open, he qualified fro the World Grand Prix and new arrangements were agreed with the Sheffield Academy. The exhibition match will be followed by and Morocco v England challenge.

    Isle of Man – 9 December 2015

    LegendsDouglas

Ronnie and Jimmy played the Quinn Legal Group Challenge Match, yesterday evening in Villa Marina, on the Isle of Man. Ronnie won 5-3 with a highest break of 96, whilst Jimmy had a 85.

It was a great night again, with a touch of unexpected as well … Indeed the very windy weather prevented Michaela Tabb to make it: her flight was canceled. Jason Francis, the promoter, and the players had a rather bumpy flight but managed, although Jason suggested on twitter that he was suffering from a sore bum 🙂 Sore or not, he had to replace Michaela as the referee on the night … a première 😉

Ronnie tweets after last night show:

Thanks to @QuinnLegalIOM for a great night and all the fans who turned up. Homeward bound.

    and also

Simple solution to the kick problem thicker cloths and heavier balls

Wether this last one was inspired by the conditions at the exhibition or the debate that rages about kicks on twitter for months, is anyone’s guess. Anyway, that’s an “old school” stance and one I’m certain other players of his generation will agree with …
