Day 2 in Daqing saw the completion of the last 64 round and here are today’s results:
There weren’t many surprises, the biggest one being young wildcard Xi Su beating Mark Williams. Xi Su of course showed what he can do yesterday, sharing the highest break, 145, with John Higgins. To a lesser extend, Aditya Mehta beating Ryan Day is also a surprise, but Aditya has always been a very good player and it’s nice to see him coming back to form after a neck injury that forced him to retire from the main tour last season.
16 years old, Yan Bingtao is proving once how dangerous he is: today his victim was the very experienced Mike Dunn and the score is quite severe too: 6-2. This boy can pot and has a wise old head on his young shoulders!
Ding Junhui won his match easily after yesterday’s scare, but missed the last brown en route to a maximum; this came in frame 4 of his last 64 match versus David Grace … I hope that’s not the reason why his name has been scrapped in the result table above, despite the win. Worldsnooker?
The English Open Champion, Liang Wenbo, was taken to a decider … again! As the match wasn’t on television, we all missed the celebration if any.
